Content for Review
PARENT NOTIFICATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS WITH SEXUALLY EXPLICIT CONTENT
The Warren County School Board has updated Policy IIA - Instructional Materials to establish clear procedures for schools to (i) identify all instructional materials with sexually explicit content, (ii) ensure parental notification of any instructional materials with sexually explicit content, (iii) permit parents to review all instructional materials with sexually explicit content, and (iv) ensure alternative instructional materials, that do not include sexually explicit content, are provided in a non-punitive manner for any student whose parent so requests.
A list of instructional materials that contain content meeting the definition of sexually explicit as defined in Policy IIA can be found on each school’s website under the Academics tab. These lists will be routinely updated to ensure parents/guardians are informed at least 30 days in advance of the material being used in instruction.
Parents/guardians who would like their student to be given alternate instructional material should complete the form linked at the bottom of the school’s identified materials list.
